Diabetes rate doubles in past 30 years, thanks to obesity epidemic

The obesity epidemic yet again reveals another alarming news. A major new report published by the American Heart Association concluded that type 2 diabetes rates have tripled over the past three decades. A high percentage of the new diabetes cases are among obese adults. As a result of the combined factors of the diabetes and obesity epidemics, the average American today faces a 105% higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes than about 10 years ago.
